And how do you go with...

Are you guilty of these?

burying the key information

focusing on you rather than them

writing long, complex sentences

using industry jargon

using big words to impress

keeping to the point

answering READERs' needs up front

giving pauses and breaks to digest

using plain and simple english

being transparent

To be frank, we prefer humans.

it's okay, we can use ai.

AI is clever and has its uses, but then again, so do I. (So do you.) You're the expert of your craft, and we'd collectively prefer if you showed us your human side.

Whilst AI has its place, that doesn't mean we should let it run the whole damn show. We want authenticity, originality, nuance.
HI: human intelligence.

(And call me old fashioned, but I don't like the idea of handing over our language competency to computers – surprise surprise.)

AI can be overwritten, using language that you wouldn't normally use. Plus, AI will prattle on all day if you let it – busy readers don't have time for that. And yet, all readers love a good story; AI can't tell your stories – only you can.

If AI is going to help your productivity, by all means, dabble... but you gotta add the human.

I'm here for 100% human-led editing; so, AI or self-written, send your words this way for proofing: I'll run my human eyes over your work for accuracy, gaps, waffle, personality, and of course, Punch.

(AKA NON-CRINGE, NON-SNOOZE)

What makes good content?

POLISHED.  Edited writing creates a professional image. Sloppy writing does the opposite. A professional image means your audience is more likely to trust you and invest in your services.

1.

AUTHENTIC. People want to connect with real humans, so your content should capture your voice and your story (but still make your reader feel like the VIP).

2.

SIMPLE. Always assume your reader is lazy and busy. Don't make them work hard to find answers. Simplicity is refreshing and effective.

3.

SIGNIFICANT. Identify and stick close to the reason why someone is seeking your content. People are mostly interested in their own needs (aren't you?) so keep your spiel relevant.

4.

Reminder: we're not here for mediocrity.

You want to make a good impression? A good boss knows when to outsource. Nothing screams small player like crimes against language. Polished content inspires confidence: it reflects the quality of your work. It shows that you care about details.

Yes, writing content for all-of-the-things is a drag. But no one knows your business like you do, and we want to capture the personality of you and your brand, so I encourage you to give the writing a crack – but don't skip the editing part.

Besides making sure your writing is polished and professional, I'll look at your content with your readers' needs in mind. I'll gauge why they're looking at your content in the first place, and I'll make sure you're responding to their needs in a straightforward way.

If your aim is to impress your visitors and grow your reach, editing your brand collateral is an essential investment.
